Too Much Screen Time? You're Not Alone

Screen time. I suspect I'm not alone in thinking about it — a lot.

When I first got a screen time report from my iPad, I was shocked at how many hours I'd clocked up. That uncomfortable moment of self-reflection planted a seed, and before long it grew into a story. That's how I came to write my latest book, Through Greta's Eyes — and I'm so happy I published it.

On the last pages I include an invitation to get curious about activities that don't involve a screen. It got me thinking about what I'd put on that list.

What activities light you up that don't involve screen time? Some might be:

  • Writing a play and getting neighbourhood kids to act it out

  • Doing a puppet show — make your own puppets out of the socks that don't have pairs!

  • Writing a book

  • Reading a book

  • Drawing or painting

  • Knitting or crocheting

  • Kicking a ball outside

  • Shooting hoops

What would you add to the list? I'd love to know in the comments.

You can find Through Greta's Eyes on Amazon — perfect for any family thinking about screen-free living.
